Producing steel does not mean not innovating; on the contrary, this sector faces important challenges and interesting room for evolution
The steel sector, while producing construction steels, is not exempt from having to manage document processes that are also "cumbersome" in terms of time and effort. It has a duty to ensure traceability, from the purchase of scrap to the sale of the finished product, a feat that is not easy but thanks to digitalization can be made feasible. Indeed, in a project that made it to the Digital360 Awards finals as Share, implemented by Every Software Solutions for GruppoFeralpi and competing in the Cloud Computing category.
Share: open, efficient and pragmatic
In addition to storing and distributing documents, this system can create an integrated and automated document ecosystem, involving all stakeholders. And at the same time, it provides security, flexibility, scalability and 24×7 operation. Quite a goal for a company that "dared" to bet on a digital transformation strategy aimed at concretely renewing both operational and management methodologies. It wanted a paperless system, optimized operational activities, minimal document management time and effective monitoring of operational progress. As well as the ability to work remotely, without giving up the traceability of each document, integration with their ERP and openness to other solutions.
Public cloud solution among strengths
Implemented as a SaaS solution in Public Cloud, Single-Instance Multi-Tenant, Share focuses on configuring content, actions and permissions, without binding anyone to customizations that would make this solution not easy to evolve. But instead it can, always ensuring 24×7 operability and the presence of technologies aimed at avoiding disruptions, even during upgrade and maintenance activities. Maximum resilience and very little downtime, then, combined with "by Default - by Design" security that meets the highest security standards.
The Feralpi Group can take advantage of a solution also capable of generating new documents, unifying them with existing ones to enrich the information flow with relevant metadata. Some use cases are for example, the scrap contract, scrap reclassification bill, and steel certification.
In the latter case, a document of the same name is created, unifying the Traceability List, the sales and purchase DDTs and the relevant Casting Certificates, sending it to the recipient as a complete dossier, in accordance with DM 17/01/2018 "Technical Standards for Construction." For the scrap contract, on the other hand, we proceed with the automatic acquisition and storage of the purchase contracts generated by the management system, confirming the order with maximum security of receipt and traceability of transactions.
In the case of the scrap reclassification bill, however, you have an archive, with also metadata, drawn from the integration of reclassification bills, transport document and incoming weighing certificate.
The victories of economies of scale
The Share solution has given the Feralpi Group efficiency and speed in its internal dynamics, initially articulated in different IT systems, one for each company in the Group. Today, the Group consists of some 20 companies between Italian and foreign, is basically equipped with a single management system and implements with Share hundreds of processes digitalized that process millions of documents each year, with integrated applications capable of serving all internal users and thousands of external stakeholders.
